Cabinet Transformer - The Cabinet Refinishing Process

The Cabinet Refinishing Process

With our non-intrusive kitchen cabinet refinishing method, kitchens remain clean and usable throughout the week. We only spend 2-3 days in the home, and the rest of the process is completed off site in our shop. This allows home owners and tenants to enjoy normal life while their kitchens undergo a vast transformation.

The Four Stages of Our Cabinet Refinishing Process

The total cabinet refinishing process takes only 5-7 business days on average with our 4-stage cabinetry refinishing process.

Stage One of Our Cabinet Refinishing Process: - On-Site Cabinetry Retrieval

Step one is we gently remove all your existing doors and drawers. We transport all cabinetry to and from our shop using foam pads to protect the finish. After removing your doors we cover all necessary counters and floors. We then wash, hand-sand, prime, repair cracks and blemishes, caulk, and finally apply 2-3 coats of the finish to all exterior surfaces of the cabinet frames. We use a very low VOC water based product which is low odor and dries very quickly.

Stage Two of Our Cabinet Refinishing Process: - Off-Site Cabinetry Prep & (Re)Finish

At the shop, the doors and drawer fronts go through the same stages of preparation to ensure a durable, factory grade finish. All hardware and felt bumpers are removed, everything is washed, power sanded, primed, caulked, repairs to any cracks or blemishes, then gently sanded again. All of the pieces then receive 2-3 coats of our commercial-grade acrylic coatings, applied in our contaminant-free spray booth. We use high quality HVLP spray guns to achieve a smooth finish that is harder than oven baked enamel.

Stage Three of Our Cabinet Refinishing Process: - Refinished Cabinetry Installation

Once the cabinet frames are completed, we reinstall the cabinet doors and drawer fronts, as well as any new knobs/handles, to complete the process. We install clear silicone bumpers to all doors and drawers to protect and dampen the noise of closing. We maintain the highest respect for your home at all times. We use great caution to make sure anything that needs to be covered or taped will be done so. We are non intrusive and often you won’t even know we are working away in the kitchen. There will only be 1-2 people in the home coating your frames, no big crews! Although our process has little to no dust, we still wipe off all counters and sweep the floors before we leave.

Stage Four of Our Cabinet Refinishing Process: - Extended Cabinetry Coverage

We also offer new cabinet doors and drawers for our clients who would like to change door styles and/or eliminate grain entirely. This option combines the advantages of cabinet resurfacing with the benefits of cabinet refacing, at a fraction of the cost. Our approach to refacing is durable, convenient, cost-effective, and produces the appearance of brand new cabinets.
